Fundraiser for Children with Cancer
MEGANTIC: A special hockey match, featuring special guest players, has been organized as a fundraiser for Leucan, an organization that supports children affected by cancer. To be held at the Megantic Sports Center on Friday, March 22, 2013 (7p.m.), this friendly match will be between invited guests and the local team. The goal is to raise $5,000. This project is a generous and welcome initiative created by Isabelle Gagnon, the person in charge of Communications for the Town of Lake-Megantic and Honorary President of Défi Têtes rasées pour Leucan Lac-Mégantic. Gagnon is well-known for her love of life and ability to communicate this energy, all dynamic traits of this inspiring woman who delivers new ideas for the pleasure of spectators/donators.
At the press conference held in February, Gagnon spoke of her inspiration for this project: “Knowing the passion of the local population for hockey and having the opportunity to put together a terrific team of players for a hockey game, I wanted to use my contacts to organize an event which would prove more lucrative for this cause than my own notoriety. People will not have the impression of making a donation since I will be offering them a beautiful evening of entertainment”.
Also attending the press conference was Emric Orichefqui, the poster child for Leucan Lac-Mégantic, in the MRC de Frontenac, as Isabelle Gagnon revealed the programming for the event. Stars from Lance et Compte who will be taking part include Peter Miller, Emmanuel Auger, Jason Roy-Léveillée and Hugo Giroux and coach Carl Marotte. Also signed up for the event are Joey Scarpellino, Dhanaé Audet Beaulieu, actor and Ambassador for the Mégantic area. Singer and musician Christian Sbrocca will be organizing the after-game party which will include singers Etienne Flag of Star Academy and Jonathan Roy, son of Patrick Roy, an event that will go on until 1 a.m at the Bistro du Centre Sportif. It will also be worth your while to keep an eye on the team of local players: Guillaume Hallé, Mathieu Pelletier, Eric Turmel and Vincent Bouffard and captain Frederic Durand and team coach
Simon Gagnon.
An appeal is being made to find additional players to complete the local team. Interested players are being asked to contact 819-583-7043.
