UPLANDS Launches Fundraising Campaign
LENNOXVILLE: For the first time since its founding in 2000, Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre is launching a fundraising and membership campaign. You can contribute to Uplands either by donation, and/or by becoming a member of Uplands.
For the small annual fee of $10, membership benefits include receiving special invitations to upcoming events and exhibits, as well as a 10% discount on workshops and facility rentals. Membership/donation forms are available for download at www.uplands.ca, in person from the Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre (9 Speid, Sherbrooke [Lennoxville]), or by contacting This email address is being protected from spambots. Through this initiative, they hope to meet their twin goals of $5000 in donations and 100 new members. Additional funding and more members will help Uplands fulfill its mission of offering a range of activities that are accessible to all. Among the projects currently on the go are mosaic creation workshops, which will culminate in a collective mosaic creation. They are also adding to their budding sculpture garden, which presently includes two impressive works of art, with more on the way. Upcoming projects, such as the development of a new garden with a picnic area, renovating the heritage barn adjacent to Uplands, and renewing some aging tables and chairs, are all part of the Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre’s vision.
This highly regarded cultural organization has offered a wide variety of activities since its inception thirteen years ago. Housed in a magnificent period home, Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre annually welcomes more than 8000 visitors, who are delighted to discover this historic jewel. Often they come to sample our traditional “English Tea”, or stop by as part of the Townships Trail experience. In addition, musical concerts, art exhibitions, fashion shows, learning activities for local schools and other very special events are held several times a year.
Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre is open to visitors Wednesday to Friday from 1:30-4:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons for visits and tea, by reservation. For more information, please visit our website at www.uplands.ca.
