LENNOXVILLE: Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre is pleased to present the art exhibition and sale Terre Brodée, Terre Façonnée. The public is cordially invited to meet the artists, Danielle Dion and Christiane Dion, during the vernissage on Sunday, April 7, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Uplands (9 Speid St. in the borough of Lennoxville). The exhibition will run until May 26, 2013.

Christiane Dion’s first encounter with pottery was in North Hatley during the period when pottery was very popular (1975-1981). She let her passion for this craft simmer for several years until finally in 1996; she began her craft in earnest. With every additional course she took, she was able to develop her own style and in 2005, she and some of her ceramicist colleagues opened a ceramics studio, Les céramistes de Longueuil.

“The idea of being there amongst the people along with the items that I have created which celebrate the ordinary in all of its beauty, sensitivity and harmony acts as a motivation and also is a privilege for me. It is with the greatest of respect that I accept their comments,” noted Christiane Dion.

This is the first-ever joint exhibition of embroiderer Danielle Dion and her sister, ceramist Christiane Dion. Danielle creates colourful impressionistic or imaginary landscapes using appliqués of silk, yarn and precious treasures. Inspired by the wonderful world of imagination, Christiane fashions castles in clay that will inspire dreams. From her “House of Cards” to the “Zen Temple”, she expresses the richness of the human adventure. A collection of decorative slab boxes and pinch pots round out Christiane’s offerings.
