This rich twelve-voice a cappella ensemble explores European psalm traditions in five languages: German, French, English, Hebrew and Latin. The program pairs chant, hymn, and folk psalm settings with gems from prominent sixteenth and seventeenth-century masters. Works include Heinrich Shütz’ Psalm 116 for five voices, two Hebrew settings by Rossi, Psalm 42 of Sweelinck, Gibbons’ O Clap your hands together, and Josquin’s beautiful De Profundis Clamavi.
