Praise,Thanksgiving: European Psalmody, 1450-1650.

This rich twelve-voice a cappella ensemble explores European psalm traditions in five languages: German, French, English, Hebrew and Latin. The program pairs chant, hymn, and folk psalm settings with gems from prominent sixteenth and seventeenth-century masters. Works include Heinrich Shütz’ Psalm 116 for five voices, two Hebrew settings by Rossi, Psalm 42 of Sweelinck, Gibbons’ O Clap your hands together, and Josquin’s beautiful De Profundis Clamavi.

Performing together for nearly two years, One Equall Musick is a small ensemble of young, dedicated musicians, composers and scholars who share a passion for early music, artistic collaboration and performance excellence. The group has performed in Montreal venues including Trinity Memorial Anglican Church and the Villa Medica Rehabilitative Hospital, as well as holding a choral Evensong series at Birks Chapel on the McGill campus.
