Foreman Gallery - Two New Exhibitions

LENNOXVILLE: The Foreman Art Gallery, at Bishop’s University, will be launching two exhibitions on May 25 (2-4p.m.). The first exhibition, VIDEO TANK #6, features work by Eléonore Saintagnan. She created a series of video portraits based on the discoveries that she made during a month-long stay in the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges and the inhabitants of these villages whom she met with at that time. This particular video, an ABC Film (2010) is a tribute to those individuals who seek happiness ‘outside of the box’ - those who still believe in something that feeds their individual myths and the worship of their gods, whether they are Vikings or Rock'n Roll gods, Saint Nicolas or Brother Joseph.

Eléonore Saintagnan, born in Paris in 1979, currently lives and works in Brussels. She graduated from Fresnoy in 2009, after completing her studies in Visual Arts and Documentary Film. Film critic Jean-Michel Frodon describes Saintagnan as “an artist with the rare ability to collect and share the beauty of people, places and things that generally go unnoticed." Her films have been selected at festivals including Hors Pistes Centre Pompidou, at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival and the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid, and for a development project in FIDLab 2012. Her works have been displayed at institutions such as: Palais de Tokyo, the Wiels Contemporary Art Centre, Brussels; Salon de Montrouge; or CRAC, Alsace. Eléonore Saintagnan is being sponsored by the Galerie Elaine Levy Project in Brussels.

The opening reception for Video Tank #6 will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 2:00 – 4:00pm. The exhibition will be on display until July 13, 2013. Free admission to the exhibit - Everyone is welcome. This project, produced by the Foreman Art Gallery, is funded with help from the Canada Council for the Arts.
