Activities: Antique Engines and Car Show
BROWNINGTON, VT: The Vermont Antique Gas & Steam Engine Association will exhibit their working engines on the Old Stone House Museum lawn. There will also be Antique & Classic Cars and a postcard show. Lunch on the lawn by the Brownington Ladies Aid.
The Grand Opening of the Museum's new exhibit, "History of Farming in Orleans County" will be featured in our new Timber Frame Barn. Free admission to the Engine Show. Lunch will be available. Chicken Barbecue at $10 a plate starts at 4 pm. Bring your instrument for the Bluegrass Jam.
Basket Class: Make a Market Basket -- Wednesday, June 12
Carolyn Starr will teach participants how to make a Market Basket at the Hall House from 10 am - 2 pm. No previous basket making skills required. Class cost is $25 or $20 for Museum members, plus a $25 material fee. Please register by Friday, June 7, and bring a lunch. Photo of basket is on our website.
Spinners Circle – Wed., June 19, noon to 4 p.m., Hall House
Basket Class: Wood Bottom Round Basket -- Saturday, June 22
Carolyn Starr will teach participants how to make a Wood Bottom Round Basket at the Hall House from 10 am - 2 pm. No previous basket making skills required. Backyard Beekeeping Class - Saturday, June 22
Bruce Henson, longtime beekeeper will discuss and demonstrate all aspects of beekeeping, including honeybee history, hive maintenance and honey and wax harvesting. This class is geared to all ages and levels of interest and expertise. The class will take place from 10 am - 2:30 pm in the Education Bldg. Class cost is $25 or $20 for Museum members.
Back Roads Readings - Sunday, June 23
Reeve Lindbergh & Sydney Lea will read from their work at the Brownington Village Congregational Church at 3 pm, followed by a reception at the Samuel Read Hall House. This series is Free, donations are welcome.

Beginning Blacksmithing – Make a Fireplace Poker – Saturday, June 29
Wyatt Moseley will teach an introduction to basic Forge techniques, safety, equipment options, lighting and maintaining a fire, and timing. Beginners will complete a fireplace poker, as they practice half-faced hammer blows, drawing out, twisting, leaf work and a simple weld. After taking this course students will be able to take more advanced courses. Cost: $75, or $65 for museum members, plus $25 materials fee. After taking an introductory class, students can practice with guidance of an instructor at the hammer-ins the second Saturday of each month for just $10 a session.
