Colby-Curtis Museum Highlights

New Solarium-aSTANSTEAD: The Colby-Curtis Museum will be hosting another in its 2013 lecture/luncheon series on Saturday, September 26 at 10:30 p.m. Now that the renovations to the solarium have been completed, lectures will now be held in this new spacious addition. The guest speaker will be Allen Yale, President of the Derby Historical Society. The title of his lecture is: “The Changing Borders of Derby”, which also offers a fascinating comparison with what has happened on the Canadian side of the Border.

The talk will describe how historical circumstances affected the transformation of the boundaries and the internal political organization of the town (townships) of Derby from its origins, in the late 18th century, to the present day.

Yale has had a distinguished career in education, first as a social studies teacher at North Country Union High School in Newport for twenty years, and later as history professor at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont for eleven years.

Colby-Curtis Museum, 535, Dufferin Rd., Stanstead. Admission: $15 for members and $20 for non-members including the luncheon. Info: (819) 876-7322 Colby-Curtis Museum.
