SUMMER THEATRE ''LA PREMIÈRE SCÈNE'' – TWO MUST-SEES!
Author: Myriam Sainson Date: 2010-07-28 Region: Le Granit
It is in the patrimonial site of the former church St. René Goupil of Marston that, in 2008, the summer theatre officially opened its doors to the public of the whole Le Granit region. An original way for theatre lovers to discover, simultaneously, the history of the burned church rebuilt in the fifties, and the repertory of Quebec’s famous playwrights and theatre actors and actresses. I recommend two plays for the rest of the season : ''Le mystère d'Ima Vep,'' playing from July 15th to August 7th, is a well known comedy by Charles Ludlam (1943-1987) featuring actors Jérôme and Vincent Couture. This play combines gothic and horror, bringing together seven very different characters. The second one, ''Le Poisson rouge et crudités,'' playing from 12th to 28th August, is also a comedy by Francis De Grandpré and Gabriel-Aimé Grou, directed by Francis Richard, featuring Mathieu Hébert, Anne-HélènePrévost, Anne-Sophie Quemener and Louis-Charles Sylvestre. The story is one character’s (Cassandra) romantic journey, with a symbolic meeting with a stranger towards the end. Packages are available (restaurants, movies and cruises).
